The 2013 WYNG Lecture, Hong Kong – to be given by Dr Damian Crowther, Trinity Hall Fellow in Natural Sciences
"Cross boundaries: how crossing the boundaries between disciplines has shed light on how Alzheimer's disease spreads through the brain"
Damian Crowther collaborates closely with Dr Florian Hollfelder who he may never have met if it were not for Trinity Hall (both are Trinity Hall Fellows in Natural Sciences but in different departments). Their research on how Alzheimer’s disease starts and spreads around the brain is multi-disciplinary, involving medics, biologists, chemists, biochemists and microfluidic engineers. Together, they have developed a test that may help early diagnosis and help drug companies discover new treatments. Dr Damian Crowther’s lecture will give insight into this ground-breaking research and the challenges and benefits of a collaborative approach.
