Sir Nicholas Hytner receives Honorary Degree
At a special Congregation in the Senate House on Wednesday, 15 June, Sir Nicholas Hytner (1974) was conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters. Recipients of higher doctorates conferred honoris causa are individuals of outstanding national, or usually international, achievement in their field.
Sir Nicholas read English at Trinity Hall and went on to become a theatre, film and opera director. He is an Honorary Fellow of Trinity Hall and former Director of the National Theatre, London.

WYNG Gardens topping out
On Wednesday, 18 May, the last tile was laid on WYNG Gardens roof. The Master, Bursar, Junior Bursar and Development Director donned hi-vis jackets and hard hats to join builders Balfour Beatty and architect Tristan Rees-Roberts (1967) on the roof at the topping out ceremony.
The new development on Thompson's Lane will provide 72 en-suite student bedrooms plus kitchen facilities and common rooms. There will also be seminar and conference space.

Milestone Lecture 2016 On Saturday, 22 October, Professor Jane Clarke (Fellow in Natural Sciences) will discuss the role of protein folding in diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and cancer, her route into research and why every woman should have the opportunity to have a career in science.
